Easy Wonton Soup

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2-3 garlic cloves cut into large pieces
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger sliced into thin pieces
  • 2-3 tablespoons of peanut oil
  • 1-2 green onions cut into small pieces (leave some for garnish at end)
  • 4-6 cups water
  • 1 chicken boullion cube
  • 1-2 table spoons sesame oil
  • 8-10 pre-cooked wantons
  • Half teaspoon Sichuan pepper salt
  • Crushed black pepper
  • Sliced green onion

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut the garlic and onion into medium to small pieces.
  2. Cut the ginger into thin slices.
  3. Heat the peanut oil on high for 1-2 minutes in a soup pot or wok.
  4. Add the garlic, ginger, and green onion and stir fry for one minute.
  5. Add the water and bring to a boil.
  6. Add the chicken bouillon cube and simmer for 30 min.
  7. Add the cooked wantons and simmer for 5 min.
  8. Add the sesame oil, Sichuan pepper salt, and crushed pepper into the bottom of a soup bowl.
  9. When the soup is ready (5-10 min), pour into the soup bowl and stir.
  10. Sprinkle the soup with crushed black pepper and sliced green onion.
